Evergreen screening was introduced to give privacy. A formal hedge was discounted in favour of using 2 different evergreens, broken up with the use of a purple leaved smoke bush and a scented winter flowering Viburnum by the gate post. Red stems of dogwoods add interest in winter and an underplanting of heucheras adds flower power.
