About Lilybud Gardens by Design
Lilybud Gardens by Design provides quality garden design and build services in the Brighton, Worthing and surrounding areas. The business is run by Lisa Attwell who passed the Royal Horticultural Society General Certificate with a commendation. Lisa is a qualified garden designer, having graduated from Hadlow College and the University of Greenwich. She also has building craft qualifications as well as years of gardening and horticultural experience. Her horticultural experience includes 3 years as the Head Gardener at a three-acre historic walled garden in the heart of Brighton.
Our design approach aims to create beautiful yet practical outdoor space, with every design element working hard to give maximum value in gardens large or small. We hope this means people spend more enjoyable time in their outdoor space.
Lilybud Gardens by Design has a regular team of fully insured landscaping professionals and qualified gardeners to ensure seamless delivery of your garden design.
Currently I am Chair of Green Tides, a partnership across Adur and Worthing representing around 40 groups of volunteers - friends of parks and green and blue spaces.
An ethical approach
As gardeners, we experience the impact of climate change at a local (ground) level. This has led Lilybud Gardens by Design to maximise the use of “green” products and working practices wherever possible. We’re committed to sourcing materials and working practices that have as little negative impact on people and the environment as possible. Furthermore, where we can, we’ll build in elements that offer a benefit to our environment, eg, by incorporating plants that benefit the birds and the bees and other native biodiversity.
Using local materials where possible is also good for your garden. Local materials blend well visually with local architecture and tend to be better for the environment because less transport costs are involved in moving them. When using imported stone and aggregates we’ve done our homework and have selected suppliers with a good record for sound working practice.
When sourcing new materials, you can be sure we’re operating responsibly. For example, where possible, we prefer to source home-grown plants, preferably locally to Sussex. We're currently working with a local ecologist to source plants with real biodiversity benefit to local insects and invertebrates.
We’re mindful that both drought and drainage are issues for 21st century and we design with this in mind. Ultimately, the style of garden you choose is entirely up to you ~ our job is to help you make informed choices.
